"New Year, New Me"...

Hello everyone,

I was very hesitant to start this blog, because I'm a horrible writer and well, to be honest, I probably won't have time to keep up with this. But I wanted to try anyway. I wanted to start this blog, more to help myself document moments in my life & then be able to reflect on them later on.

Every year, everyone comes up with their "New Year Resolutions". I am guilty of doing the same. But this year, I thought, "Why should I? I know I'm not going to do it anyway." So instead of writing down my upcoming goals, I agreed to go on a 5-month backpacking trip with my boyfriend to South America.

Doing this means I have to quit my job.
I am currently the Front-of-House Manager at Steins Beer Garden in downtown Mountain View. But about a month ago, I spoke with my boss and told them that I'm quitting. This was definitely a tough decision for me to make because I absolutely love my job (sometimes) and love the people I work with (most of the time). It has been such a great opportunity for me and a blessing to have met some of the greatest people who have guided me through my career in the restaurant/hospitality industry.
But after being there for 4 years, I've realized that I needed to do something more with my life. I needed to figure out what I really want to do and to figure out who I really am.

A close friend told me that I am a workaholic and that there is never a good time to leave, you just gotta do it.


So, at the beginning of this year, I posted a photo on my instagram (@lynnna) saying:


"Reflecting on how this last year has shaped me, i am beyond blessed to have a wonderful group of people who love and support me. & i feel like the luckiest girl to have someone like @timothekimoteo in my life. 2017 is going to be the year...that I get out of my comfort zone & really start to experience what life is all about. I am nervous and scared for what's to come, but I know that I'll always have the support of those who care 💕😌 #newyear #love #family 🙏🏻 #puttingMEfirst"

& that's my plan: To get out of my comfort zone & really start to experience what life is all about.

New Country, New Adventures | Quito & Otavalo

We are now in another big city, Quito in Ecuador. With all the traveling, sometimes Tim and I just want to relax and enjoy our downtime. Of course, though it's downtime we are still "working" or studying. One of our favorite things to do is go to cafes and work, and that's exactly what we did our first day here. We went to a cafe called Cafe Jaru near the main part of the city. I kid you not, when we walked in, there were only ASIANS in the cafe (specifically Koreans)! We were so surprised because we rarely see Asian people. This cafe was super cute and very modern. I loved all the decals and little details in their interior design. Reminds me of a Bible verse (Proverbs 14:13) Today, we decided to explore the surrounding small town, Otavalo - which is about an 2-hour motorbike ride from Quito. The Adventure Begins | Museum Day ● Bogotá, Colombia

It's been a great few days here in Bogotá! On Friday, August 4th, we woke up to an overcast day & slightly sprinkling. We were thinking of going to visit Monserrate today, but since the weather was overcasted, we decided to save it for another day. Instead, it seemed like the perfect day to visit museums around the area. First thing in the morning, I get to look forward to this: Breakfast Made by Tim 😍 We headed out around 12pm to the bus station. Tim did most of the navigation of which bus we need to get on to go to the Museo del Oro. But getting to the bus station was pretty easy and all you need is to buy one of their bus cards (they're rechargeable for multiple uses). We got to the Museo del Oro (Gold Museum) and it was $4.000 per ticket. We also got the audio tour, which was $8.000 (There were English captions, so honestly the audio tour was something we didn't really need). The museum was nice.
