Onto The Next Chapter | Parque Arví ● Medellín, Colombia

We decided to take a trip to Parque Arví today. It was quite the trip to get there. If you're interested in checking it out, it's quite easy to take public transportation in this city. Their metro system is amazing and super clean! You can buy a rechargeable bus card called Civica Card to make entering and exiting easy.

How to get there:
  • You can ride the closest metro station to Acevedo to take the K Line (which is a gondola that takes you to different neighborhoods of Medellín) to Santo Domingo. Once you get to that station, there are signs to the L Line, which takes you to Arví. It's a beautiful view and a comfortable ride.

We met some nice locals on the ride up. Their names were Berta, Tatiana and Cristiano. Berta is from Medellín and Tatiana & Cristiano is from Ecuador. Tim, being the Spanish expert, was just amazing. He carried the conversation with them the entire time, as I sat there and smiled.

At the top of the mountain, there is a little mercado of vendors selling food, jewelry and other goods. There was also more to the park than we knew. Our friends told us that there is a bus that drives you up to another pueblo on the mountain. But we decided to walk up the road instead. Along the road, we found a trail into the woods and decided to take that. We went on an adventure...and somehow lost our way. So instead of continuing to go deeper into the woods, we found the road again and followed that up the mountain. I want to say we walked for about one hour and a half until we decided to take the next passing bus down. We passed through a town called Mazo and that was the farthest we went.

After visiting Parque Arví, on our way home, we stopped at the Universidad stop to visit the Jardín Botánico de Medellín. It was free to get in and they are currently doing renovations to make it better. We didn't see much, but we were able to go into their Mariposa Exhibition - it was amazing! Wish there were more to see, but I can't to see what this place looks like after their renovations.

Hello friends, We are currently in El Calafate, Argentina after our 4-day trek in Torres del Paine National Park. It was amazing! We started off in Puerto Natales, Chilé - got on a bus at 7:30AM and made our way to the park entrance (about 2-3 hours away). The Adventure Begins | Day 1 - Bogotá, Colombia

Hello friends, It's been awhile since I've written on this blog. I started as a way for me to start doing more with my life than just the normal work grind. But of course, work got the best of me and with only a few months left in America, I had to keep my focus on getting things done before I leave. I mentioned to a few people that I would be starting a blog, more so as a journal for myself to remind me of my trip. New Country, New Adventures | Quito & Otavalo

We are now in another big city, Quito in Ecuador. With all the traveling, sometimes Tim and I just want to relax and enjoy our downtime. Of course, though it's downtime we are still "working" or studying. One of our favorite things to do is go to cafes and work, and that's exactly what we did our first day here. We went to a cafe called Cafe Jaru near the main part of the city. I kid you not, when we walked in, there were only ASIANS in the cafe (specifically Koreans)! We were so surprised because we rarely see Asian people. This cafe was super cute and very modern. I loved all the decals and little details in their interior design. Reminds me of a Bible verse (Proverbs 14:13) Today, we decided to explore the surrounding small town, Otavalo - which is about an 2-hour motorbike ride from Quito.
